Together with her consortium partners (Lucie Khemtemourian, Birgit Strodel, Gunnar Schröder, Christian Griesinger, Rita Guzzi, Anna Erlandsen and Carmelo La Rosa) Céline will receive funding from the European Research Executive Agency for a MSCA doctoral programme with the project “From biophysical chemistry to cell biology: Deciphering the role of lipids in the toxicity and spreading of protein aggregation”. The Doctoral program will train fifteen doctoral candidates, including three who will be employed at the Galvagnion lab.
The project seeks to unravel the structural complexities of amyloid protein-lipid aggregates and investigate their role in pathological aggregation, cellular toxicity, and intercellular spread for the amyloid-related diseases type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease.
The consortium will train fifteen Doctoral Candidates on cutting-edge methods in biophysics, peptide chemistry, molecular and structural biology, and cell biology to understand the pivotal role of lipids in amyloid-related diseases.
Outcomes of this project will have significant societal impact, enhancing our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and type 2 diabetes, including potential improvements in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
The main applicant is Lucie Khemtemourian from the Institute of Chemistry & Biology of Membranes and Nano-objects – Bordeaux, France and the project coordinator is Cécile Bacles.
