New publication! Ambroxol displaces α-synuclein from the membrane and inhibits the formation of early protein-lipid coaggregates

New publications! Our manuscript describing the mechanism by which the small molecule chaperone Ambroxol inhibits the co-assembly of alpha-synuclein with lipids into amyloid fibrils is now published at Chemical Science Journal. This collaborative work with Jesper Dreier, Elliot Carles, Katharina Schott, Alisdair Stevenson and Thomas Michaels suggests a novel role of Ambroxol that can act not only by stabilising Glucocerebrosidase but also by preventing alpha-synuclein aggregation, the process associated with Parkinson’s Disease.
